The Philippine Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative announces the postponement of the 2026 EITI Global Conference, which was set to be hosted by the Government of the Philippines in Manila. The conference will be rescheduled to a later date.

The decision comes in response to evolving global and national developments. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has contributed to a global energy crisis, resulting in rising fuel and energy costs that are affecting economies worldwide, including the Philippines.

In response, the Philippine government has declared a national energy emergency and is prioritizing measures to safeguard energy security and support the public during this period. Against this backdrop, it was deemed prudent to defer the Global Conference to ensure that it can be conducted effectively and with full participation at a more appropriate time.

The Philippines, through PH-EITI, remains committed to hosting the Global Conference and to advancing transparency and accountability in the extractive sector. The conference, convened by the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, serves as a global platform for dialogue among governments, industry, and civil society on responsible resource governance.

PH-EITI will continue to work closely with the EITI International Secretariat to monitor developments and identify suitable dates for the rescheduled conference. Updates will be shared through official channels, including PH-EITI and EITI platforms.

In the meantime, PH-EITI reaffirms its commitment to supporting the global EITI community and promoting the use of transparency as a tool for informed decision-making, especially during periods of economic uncertainty.
